A day with the Lovebo twins

Last week the P-man and I stopped by the Lovebo's for some afternoon playtime. Little did we know it would turn into Minor-Injury-Fest 2012.
Playtime started off relatively carefree; here are all 3 toddlers exchanging sippy-cups on the back deck.
Theo- front & center, Beck- blondie in the back, Preston- giant baby on the right.
Shortly thereafter, while trying to load the boys up for the walk to the park, Theo took off running and face-planted in the grass. On initial assessment everything looked ok, but on further examination was found to have a sizeable split on his bottom lip. He was sent ice-packing and was sidelined for the remainder of playtime.
Bryn and I loaded up Preston and Beckett for a trip to the playground where Beckett spent a fair amount of time running courageously through the sprinklers, while Preston mostly stood back reluctantly and watched. Both boys enjoyed climbing and sliding on the playground, as evidenced by these nice smiles:
Beckett later faceplanted into the mulch after flying off the slide at an unexpectedly rapid velocity (actually, no injury was sustained here. He was impressively resilient.) At some undetermined time later, Preston sustained a nasty scratch to the middle of his back, which was not discovered until that evening by his less-than-observant mother. Ahem. I've concluded it must have happened on one of his slide descents, and thus am referring to it as "slide-burn." It was significant enough to cause quite a bit of pain the following 2 nights that bathtime had to be cut very short. And to make matters worse, now it has festered into a nasty rash which our on-staff pediatrician Uncle Mike has diagnosed via e-consult as likely bacterial. Dirty playground slide! Needless to say, we are hoping that our next date with the Lovebo twins is slightly less eventful. But since they are boys, I'm guessing we're in for many more bumps and bruises.

  1. Oh geez, a bacterial infection from the slide at Onondaga Park. That little playdate was kind of a disaster! Next time we'll have to limit ourselves to the backyard, or inside, or just the playroom....
