A lost post. From May.

A 2 week synopsis:
Another Toddler Tango class: Initially I thought Preston kept ending up with this pair of glasses by chance. I mean, music class is only once a month. But this is now the third time in a row he's ended up with this pair, so I guess it is quite intentional, and he is quite fond of this look. I turned the phone towards him so he could do pseudo-selfies.
Needless to say, Preston had another delightful time at Toddler Tango. It's totally up his alley, with all the singing and dancing.

Last weekend was Big Rig Day, and once again, we attended with Wesley. This year, the boys each had their own agenda, so we kept parting ways and then regrouping, only to part ways again. The boys did enjoy the cow train together though. We also ran into just about every boy in their pre-school class. I guess Big Rig Day isn't considered much of a girls event.

If you can compare faces close up, you will see that Wesley is practically jumping out of his seat with excitement, and Preston is all business here.

Wesley still waving to the crowd. Preston still all business.

Investigating the back of an ambulance.

From L-->R: Preston, cameo by classmate Leo, and Wes.

And here is a cameo by Asher, another pre-k buddy.

Our only, and clearly failed attempt, at getting a moms + boys shot.

Preston stood in line for a solid 40 minutes to get this creation. He did do some windsprints around the field house, but stayed in the general vicinity, and despite frequent attempts by me to abandon our post, was insistent on staying the course.

Theo and Beck's 3rd birthday party!! This is the first time I've ever caught all 3 smiling in the same shot!!

Hat Day at the library. Only I forgot to bring a hat. Luckily the librarian anticipated this and had a selection available for other children with forgetful parents. Preston scored the Cat in the Hat hat.

1st day of the year up at the cottage, sans grandparents. Not a whole lot to do without Oompa and Gigi around, but Mommy sure enjoyed the change of scenery and general tranquility of being near the water.

Thursday morning pedicures with mom.

1st pedicure I've had in over a year, and it was self-administered. Preston was obviously intrigued by the process, and joined in. Then he immediately asked to apply lipstick and enroll in ballet classes. I should have known!

Guess who's 3 1/2?

The other day, after about 2 hours of actively attempting to get Preston to change out of his pajamas, I gave up. I told him he could sit on his bed (yes it is used for time-out, which I am aware is a discipline faux pas) until he was ready to get dressed. And when he was ready to get dressed, he could put his clothes on by himself. I left an outfit consisting of a pair of underwear, a t-shirt, and a pair of shorts laying on his bed. He was pretty much unphased by this non-traditional form of time-out, and ended up playing by himself for a while. But finally, he started calling out that he was ready, and I reminded him he couldn't come out until he had put his clothes on. After a few minutes, I heard the pitter-patter of little feet running down the hallway, and he turned the corner looking like this:
T-shirt: backwards.
Underwear: backwards
Shorts: missing
Super-hero mask: on.

We eat open-faced sandwiches

Yesterday Preston pulled his PB&J sandwich apart and insisted on eating the 2 slices separately. Tonight, he asked for a PB&J again, but requested it be an "open sandwich." He then assisted me in spreading the PB and jelly on the respective slices, left them separate on his plate, and declared, "I am going to eat this open peanut butter sandwich." We eat our PB&J sandwiches with class, folks.

Earlier in the evening, during round one of dinner, Preston was reluctant to eat any part of his asian veggie burger. They were a little spicy, and I thought sour cream would provide the perfect antidote, so I spread some on, declared it was frosting, and Preston totally fell for it. He then called it a "cookie burger," and ate about 5 pieces. Then he ate about half a canteloupe by himself.

A brief hiatus

Well, after the past hour of writing a detailed and witty account of Preston and my experience at the mall yesterday, a glitch in the blogger app just caused me to lose the whole thing.
So, long story short, we discovered the pee-wee ropes course at Wonderworks yesterday, followed by self-serve fro-yo. The mammoth (but completely anti-small business) mall delivers!
getting harnessed up!
Celebrating with watermelon sorbet, with gummy bears and strawberry syrup. Mmmm. Interesting to see what happens when you let a toddler go to an ice cream buffet!
