"I hate these blurred lines..."

Here's the P-man, getting funky:

Pre-vacation summer fun

Some shenanigans from sometime in July. I also just discovered a lost post from 4th of July that I still need to caption. That will have to wait.

This awesome cape was gifted to Preston via the maternal-grandmothers-brother route (or Great Uncle & family, for short)...it has laid idle for some time, but Preston finally came of age to realize it's true awesomeness. So here he is, whipping around the house, proclaiming, "I a super hero!!!"

More indoor fun, this time in the basement, and Preston once again giving me the obligatory Sara-Eckrich-style "cheese."

Enjoying the outdoors at one of the more fabulous hidden gems of inner-city-playgrounds. We had the place completely to ourselves, like usual. This is the playground just down the road, and it makes me feel like I'm getting my money's worth out of my property tax dollars. Our own personal playground, equipped with tennis courts, basketball court, beach volleyball court, and baseball field? Not too shabby for a couple hundred bucks a year.

"I'm a girl."

Preston has a serious fascination with my hair ties. He loves to wear them as bracelets, or arm bands, and most recently, he started asking me to put them in his hair. And I obliged.
The first time I did it, he ran to the mirror, and the first thing out of his mouth was "I a girl!" And now that it his choice line every time we do it. Last night he even concluded "Like you, mommy." Smart kid.
This is one of my many favorite things about 2 1/2, of which I've been intending to create and post a list for the past 2 months, but haven't gotten around to yet. But here's #1. Preston now has the ability to relate things to one another, i.e. when he has pigtails, he looks like a girl, and therefore, is like me.
#2. He also has a pretty firm grasp on gender. This idea was most exemplified last week, when, after a night of beach volleyball, I scratched the usual bedtime bath routine, for bedtime shower with Mommy, and Preston was very quick to point out, (and I quote), "You don't have a penis, Mommy?" I bit my lip, and explained, that no, mommies don't have penises. But yay for me for successfully teaching him correct names for body parts, (private parts included!), a requisite parenting task for the 21st century. Apologies to those of you who grew up in the 20th century. It takes some getting used to...

Obliging me with a "cheese."

Much happier taking selfies.

On a sidenote; several posts are in drafting stages, so much for my goal to catch up on posts while on vacation. Also a fail: getting a tan. We did however, successfully achieve some R&R.

Vacation days 2-9

Several postings in draft form, as usual, but here are some highlights of our trip to Oompa and Gigi's new house back in August.

Watching 3D TV with Oompa! Only momentary viewing however, don't fret, negligible loss of brain cells here.

Checking out the new scene with Oompa. Gracie taking part in the action.

Headed out for a swim! Unlike the cottage, you can jump in off the dock here, and it's beautiful!

Some post-swim selfies with mom.

Testing out Uncle Mike's bike, with 2 of our family's finest triathletes.

Swimming with Uncle Mike!

Evidence of 1st major trauma. Lesson learned: do not run on bathroom tiles with wet feet.

Showing off the bloody remnants of his 1st big nose bleed. Took a while to recover from this one. He even had ME freaked out a little, and I'm a nurse! Couldn't tell if blood was coming from mouth, or nose, or both. And there was a good deal of it. However, there was a splendid moment of comic relief.
And I quote: "Mommy, what is that?" (referring to blood, amidst sobbing)
"That's blood, buddy.
Pause.
"I don't like it."

Lounging with Gracie.

Practicing his putz with Gigi.

An Eckrich-style cheese on the plane ride home.

Where in the world is the Pman

South Carolina!!
aka: Oomp and Gigi's new state of residence. And incidentally, a very inconvenient location for chiildcare emergencies, and/or babysitting in general. Convenient, however, for warm-climate getaways.
Plan for this week: get a suntan (for mommy), avoid freakish southeastern insects/reptiles, catch up on overdue blog posts, enjoy the R&R.

Day 1:
One of these things is not like the other...

Luxury bathing, with feline supervision.
