Preston has been sleeping through the night since I think about 9 months. Although at this point it all kind of blends together. But for months prior to that he would usually only wake up once to nurse and then pass right back out. For this, I have been quite grateful, as we all know how important/necessary sleep is to me. So on the rare night when he doesn't sleep through the night, I come to appreciate how very lucky I have been. (And also wonder how I ever made it through the first 3 months....but then I remember, *I wasn't working.*) Needless to say, Preston decided sleep was optional last night, and Matt and I passed him back and forth and each made it out with a total of maybe 3 hours of sleep. My best guess is his teeth were bothering him, but even after tylenol, baby orajel, and hours of rocking, he refused to be put down. Today Matt and I looked like zombies from The Walking Dead, (my new favorite TV show thanks to Netflix.) Fortunately, Preston took a 3 hour nap at lunchtime and we all went down for the count during that glorious time.
For the most part, he is napping only once during the day now, except sometimes at daycare his nap gets cut short. Usually he gets a quick nap on the car ride home or I let him take a nap as soon as we get home, otherwise I have one cranky baby for the rest of the evening. Believe it or not, I am quite fond of napping with him on these days... Matt captured such an evening last week:
And here is Matt (different day), not taking advantage of an opportunity to nap:
